Audubon Veterinary Clinic

Update: My cat got run over and I sat at the emergency clinic for 2 hours. I called Audubon when they opened and Dr. Davis was able to make room in her schedule for our baby. She was so good with him and they took amazing care of him. I highly recommend these guys and Dr. Davis specifically. Update: so Ruin’s tail was not moving so we went in for a check up. Dr. Davis pulled the hair and skin off the bottom of his tail and I was horrified. She immediately pronounced the tail infected and dead and scheduled us for surgery a week and 2 days later, which I readily agreed to, though the delay puzzled me if this was such a dire situation. I went home and after getting over the shock inspected the tail further. Dr. Davis had said ironically the end of the tail which had been stitched had actually healed which got me thinking that there must be blood supply. I saw that the skin beneath the removed dead skin was pink and appeared healthy. It was just a very thin strip on the bottom side of his tail which had died, but the rest of the tail was not losing hair, felt alive and warm to the touch (indicating blood flow) and had no smell or puss or any other indication of infection. I waited a few more days and now 2 days before surgery he is holding his tail up and chasing bugs in the backyard. What this appeared to be is road rash from being run over. X-rays showed the bones in the tail were not damaged. I am canceling the surgery and honestly I’m pretty upset that she wanted to chop off a perfectly healthy tail and determined this was necessary just by observing dead skin and hair in a strip about 1/2 an inch wide. I’m not a veterinarian but I have common sense and none of this indicates the tail is dead and should be amputated. I will not return to Audubon Veterinary Clinic and I’ve returned to my earlier view that this place is quick to take your money and does not look out for the ultimate well being of the animals in their care. An amputated tail is very serious for a cat and should not be done lightly. Any Vet I trust my animals to should be slow to jump to this conclusion.

After not being able to see my sick cat, they told me he was going to die. I found alternative care with another AMAZING emergency vet who helped (NOT PEC OR AEC). I kept my appointment for vaccine boosters as my cat had previously been seen here (dog too) before I moved away. When I called to confirm the time, they told me I had to cancel and reschedule because the cat wasn't sick anymore (it was ALWAYS a vaccine appointment as they refused to see him for a "concern" appointment and made me wait 2 weeks, where I told them I would call and cancel if he died like they said he would). Then, they called and cancelled THAT rescheduled appointment because they had another animal that was having an emergency... I declined and will just go somewhere else.

Got my cat in and checked out right away. Nice people too. I already referred them to another customer as well.

Absolutely love this clinic.. everyone is so nice and helpful. I take all 4 of my cats here..
